TD wraps you securely and confidently behind the wheel. All the controls are intuitive and in little time I was on the road. The inside comes nicely equipped with Bluetooth, dual USB ports, and a Bose sound system. The performance model is equipped with a Cadillac User Experience (CUE). CUE lets you interface with multiple types of devices such as smart phones, tablets and MP3 players very easily. CUE's industry first technologies incorporate haptic feedback, Natural Voice Recognition, capacitive touchscreen and on approach proximity sensing to make virtually all info access unproblematic. The interior finish is Cadillac refined. Leather seating with French stitching is accented with a choice of exotic woods, aluminum, or carbon fiber trim. Performance seats are nicely bolstered with cushion length adjustments to keep you firmly in place. Aluminum race inspired brake and acceleration pedals add ambiance. Cadillac intentionally wanted the interior to be quiet, using Bose Active Noise Cancellation, which monitors cabin noise and sends out opposing nonaudible frequencies through the speakers to quiet those sounds. Another nice feature is the Heads Up Display which projects vital information like speed and safety alerts on the windshield. Key features on the exterior include available 18-inch forged aluminum machined finished wheels, making a nice impression, as do the LED running lights. Polished dual exhaust tips make a bold statement at the rear of the ATS. On the road the ATS is a joy to drive. Ample acceleration, grippy handling, luxurious ride and aggressive styling all add up to a sophisticated package. In keeping with the BMW comparison, the ATS powertrain warranty offers more years and mileage than the BMW. Six-years or 70,000 miles come standard, and a fouryear or 50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty covers repairs on the entire vehicle to include parts and labor. Yes, like the CTS, the ATS has run the Nürburgring test track in Germany. But its main challenge is bigger. In addition to the 3-Series BMW, other competitors are out there. The likes of the Audi A4, Lexus IS, Infinity G25 and G37, Mercedes Benz's C Class and the Volvo S60 lurk. No doubt, I think the ATS will fit in quite well. q QUICKFACTS 2013 CADILLAC ATS PERFORMANCE Engine: Power: Torque: Transmission: Brakes: Wheels/Tires: Curb Weight: Performance: Retail: 3.6L Direct Injection VVT V6 engine 321 horsepower 274 lb-ft 6-speed automatic w/ Performance Algorithm Shifting.
