The flowers, décor, and wedding festivities arranged. The music selected. The cast of assorted bridesmaids and groomsmen wait in the wings. The audience sits in anticipation. The groom reviews his role. Finally, the spotlight finds a glowing bride exquisitely wrapped in her costume of tulle and beaded organza. The production begins. O ne of the city's newest and grandest wedding venues made its debut last spring and has already premiered a dozen ceremonies. Although its primary use is not to promote the ritual of marriage, The Smith Center for the Performing Arts has proven itself a stunning backdrop for those wishing to embark on a theatrical endeavor they will remember for the rest of their lives. From the majestic stage of Reynolds Hall with its full orchestra pit, to the intimacy of the Cabaret Jazz or the outdoor wonder of Donald W. Reynolds Symphony Park, many doting couples have started their first act at The Smith Center. With colors and textures that run the spectrum, this season brides can choose from a selection of gowns that are just as theatrical as the venue. Whether it is the over-the-top drama of a black tulle ballgown by Vera Wang or the frothy feel of a feathered gown from Sophia Moncelli for Kleinfeld Kollection, the less than traditional options are definitely in the offing. For more classic tastes, brides can drape themselves in a Monique Lhuillier Chantilly lace dress with a sassy front slit or a giant cupcake of a dress with a swirling bottom for a sweet ethereal effect. The vows have been exchanged. The union has been sealed. The two have become one. All that's left is for the curtain to come down on the starring couple as they head into wedded bliss. februar y 2013 | luxury las vegas 35
